Table Top Racing (Mobile) – Review
Coins are collected in each race which can be used for car upgrades, tyres that give you super powers or new cars. But really, upgrades are the main thing your worried about.
The game starts to get challenging about half way through the third championship. At that stage its crucial that you’ve spent your coins wisely. You need your car upgraded and running fast to get through. I found myself having to go back and win all the events I had come 2nd or 3rd in to collect enough coins (which was extremely easy with my new upgraded car). Even after this, you need to concentrate to win.
Then, frustratingly, I lost all my saved data. Obviously the cloud save wasn’t working too well. So I started again. The knowledge I gained from my first crack meant that I caught up pretty quickly though.
There isn’t much succession after you complete the fourth championship. You are free to go through any of the challenges or free races, but you aren’t really achieving anything any more. Drift Events seems like it would be a differentiator from similar miniature car games, but unfortunately you need the 100,000 coin car for that. I really can’t be bothered playing enough challenges to save up for it (you can buy enough coins for about AU $3, but I’m against in app purchases).
Aside from this, the game is actually good fun. Beating your opponents and prevailing in some of the tougher challenges provides good satisfaction. As already mentioned, the graphics are superb, there is no lag and the game play is spot on. It really is a great mobile game.
