India v Australia: Pre Day 2 Comments

Spin Circus

Well, I didn’t expect Lyon to be dropped so soon, but he was pretty ordinary in the first test. The problem now is that we have replaced him with somebody even worse. How a guy with a First-class average of 44 is wearing a baggy green is beyond me. Now we’re in the wilderness with our spin option. Doherty sure as hell isn’t going to last. Why didn’t they fly O’Keefe over?

Can Maxwell Prove Everyone Wrong

I don’t think there is one Australian cricket fan who is happy about the selection of Glenn Maxwell in the test team. The million dollar man constantly gets grilled by armchair selectors across the country and rightly so – he’s done nothing to prove himself. However his FC bowling average is not too bad, in fact it is significantly better than Doherty’s. Could Maxwell prove everyone wrong and play his part buy snaring a few wickets?

Henriques Must be Consistent

It’s all about application for Henriques. He batted with an awesome temperament in the first test, but I’m sure that an inability to apply that game to game is what has led to him having an underwhelming batting record in first class cricket. Now he must ensure he does not slip back into the same pattern in Tests. He has the potential to be a very valuable player. The key word here is potential. Its the only reason why he made it in the first place. Its time for him to produce now. His impressive batting on debut will be quickly forgotten if he can’t back it up.

500 Imminent

India will score 500 again in this innings. I’d love to have to come back and eat my words, but as soon as the ball gets old a field day will be had by all, because the Indian batsmen won’t be troubled by Doherty. Another big total for India is the only result I can see happening in this innings.
