All-rounder or No all-rounder?

Yet another injury to Shane Watson has left Australia with a conundrum – all-rounder or no all-rounder?

For years now Australia has stubbornly made it a must to have an all-rounder as apart of the line-up. But with Watson injured and his likely replacement James Faulkner also out, is it time that Australia bit the bullet and went with only 4 bowlers?

With Phil Hughes screaming out for reselection through sheer weight of runs, he should be the one to come back into the Australian test side to bolster that batting order that still has many questions marks hanging over it.

Bowling is the key strength, its time that trust was put into the four frontline bowlers to do the job on their own. Steve Smith is also there to bowl a few leggies to take up some of the load now and again. They can manage.

Moises Henriques hasn’t done much to warrant a test recall. He certainly has talent with the bat but just doesn’t seem to perform enough. The best option is to go with the specialist bat.

However Australia probably will end up going with Henriques. Unless Lehmann has different ideas, they will stick to the same policies of recent times and ensure an all-rounder is in the team.
